Another dress in my series of Uniforms, aka Brandy’s Way of Wearing Awesome Fabrics. This one is a lovely vintage eyelet I found on Etsy. Dyed marigold yellow with Dharma Trading’s Procion dye. Two covered bottons accent the darts. In seam pockets.
Bitty Buttons. I took an old drawing and turned it into a fabric design to print with Spoonflower. I could blissfully design fabrics all day, and easily be designing for an audience of one. Comments help me tremendously. You can share your thoughts on Flickr or of the Spoonflower pages: pink, yellow, blue and gray.
Yellow flowers in the setting sun. Here’s the flowers I’ve been enjoying this week. Combination of yellows + orangey gerbera daisies. My apartment faces west so I get this nice golden light in the PM. (Even if my place becomes an oven, the light quality is nice.)
I do like having flowers around. One Brandy Rule: If I’m in a hotel room more than three nights, I try to buy myself flowers for my room. I’d have more at home if my closest grocery had more variety than roses, alstroemeria, bouquets with colors I don’t dig. And better prices.
Pharmacy Phabric, 2yds. 90% delighted with my Spoonflower fabric. The 10% off is my own learning curve about colors and printing. I bought 2 yards of the linen/cotton blend in my design. Really happy with the weight and feel.
Spoonflower has about a 20 day production lag. Happy that they are bursting with orders, but I was impatient. I popped for rush order. I paid a pretty penny, but very pleased to have designed a fabric first thing Monday morning and had two yards of my very own design by Friday afternoon.
Gotta get my sew on…
Hello, Grellow! Thanks, CB2, for giving me a new name for a favorite color. Here is their cachao grellow chair.
Pill-ie Timmie. Marilyn Patrizio makes these wonderful tadpoles, all named Timmie. I’ve had my very own Timmie for quite awhile, I think mine is #64. His wide grin brings me much joy. I really like the experimentation Marilyn does with clothing Timmie and his capsule-shaped body, especially the red coat, the glasses and Timmie disguised as a French man.
Here’s Timmie making lemonade from lemons on the “kitchen” table. It’s a “kitchen” table, because my kitchen has about 2 feet by 3 feet floor space. It’s not *in* the kitchen, but you get the idea.
Anywho - riffing on the pill motif. Timmie is game.
Another M. Patrizio fave is her We Belong Together card.
New fabric designed by ME. Ordered on Spoonflower. Two yards of the black background on a linen cotton blend to make into a new jumper dress, aka the Uniform. Rush order. Paid umpteen dollars since the current production time is ~18 days. 1 yard of the white background on lightweight cotton lawn, no rush. Probably make a scarf. Curious about the weight of cotton lawn.
Man, oh, man I love creating patterns. Nowadays you can set up a Spoonflower shop of sorts, get 10% on orders of your designs. This could be dangerous. If you like my designs, let me know. May encourage me to set up shop. Don’t think it’ll make me tons of money, but I’m yet another design/sewer with aspirations to be a fabric designer.
Just won this tablecloth on eBay. Intend to make a sundress from it. Part of my uniform series.
